Insurity Announces Ratio Content and Rating Engine to Connect Bureau Content to Production-Ready Policy Logic and Accelerate Commercial Rating

Built on 35+ years of admitted and non-admitted commercial lines insurance expertise, Ratio Content and Rating Engine helps P&C carriers implement changes up to 4 times faster and rate even their largest, most complex policies in seconds

HARTFORD, Conn.--Insurity, a provider of software and analytics for the property and casualty insurance industry, today announced Ratio Content and Rating Engine, an API-first regulatory content and externalized rating engine for admitted commercial P&C carriers. Ratio Content and Rating Engine turns machine-readable bureau content into production-ready policy logic and provides the rating performance to support commercial policies ranging from high-volume commercial auto and small commercial general liability and BOP to large, complex risks such as multi-line package and large schedules.

Bureau content from ISO, NCCI, and AAIS provides an essential foundation for commercial insurance, but licensing that content is only the starting point. Before it can be used to quote and issue policies, rates, rules, forms, and stat codes must be reconciled with each carrier's own deviations, translated into working policy logic, and implemented across every policy administration system that touches a given line of business. With bureau updates arriving in a constant, high-volume stream, that translation work becomes a recurring operational cost rather than a one-time project, often requiring carriers to rebuild the same regulatory change separately for each system and each line, slowing the delivery of regulatory updates, new products, and new markets.

Insurity built its Ratio Content and Rating Engine to close that gap. The platform ingests bureau content once, layers in each carrier's specific deviations, and delivers ready-to-use rating, forms, and stat-code logic through a single API to every downstream policy system, turning what has historically been months of IT development per regulatory cycle into a governed, repeatable process. For carriers running admitted lines across multiple policy administration systems, that means faster time to market, reduced compliance risk, and the ability to finally realize the full value of the bureau content they already license.

Ratio Content and Rating Engine is designed to help carriers:

  • Bring bureau content into production faster: Ratio Content and Rating Engine ingests licensed machine-readable content and turns rates, rules, forms, and stat codes into policy logic that existing systems can consume through APIs, reducing manual implementation work and IT development.
  • Preserve the decisions that make each insurance product unique: Bureau content provides the baseline. Ratio Content and Rating Engine lets carriers layer their own coverages, factors, rules, and product decisions onto that content with an effective date of their choice, while preserving historical reference across versions, so teams can understand what changed, when it changed, and how carrier decisions relate to the underlying bureau content.
  • Rate the full range of commercial business on one high-performance engine: Ratio Content and Rating Engine supports high-volume commercial auto and small commercial general liability and BOP rating with responses in as little as 30 milliseconds while also handling large policies with thousands of scheduled items in seconds. In benchmark testing, Ratio Content and Rating Engine rated a commercial auto policy with more than 30,000 vehicles 100X faster than traditional core systems.
  • Implement change once and extend it across the business: Ratio Content and Rating Engine centralizes regulatory content and carrier-specific logic so carriers can implement product and regulatory changes up to four times faster. For carriers operating multiple policy systems, that same connection layer can be reused across environments, reducing duplicated interpretation, configuration, and implementation work as the business grows.

“For a COO or CUO, the real cost of bureau content has never been limited to the license. It's the last mile of turning that content into policy logic their systems can actually run,” said Jatin Atre, Chief Executive Officer of Insurity. “Ratio Content and Rating Engine closes that gap, giving carriers the speed and flexibility to rate the commercial business they actually write. For carriers writing as few as five admitted commercial lines, that can mean $3 million or more in annual regulatory content management savings. Plus, whether it's a straightforward BOP policy or a commercial auto account with tens of thousands of vehicles, your teams get from content to quote faster, with less operational risk and without adding headcount."

Ratio Content and Rating Engine is source-agnostic and designed to support bureau and carrier-specific content, subject to applicable licensing. For carriers with appropriate Verisk licensing, Ratio Content and Rating Engine supports ingestion and normalization of ISO Electronic Rating Content (ERC) for adoption and customization within the carrier’s regulatory environment.

Ratio Content and Rating Engine is built on Insurity’s new technology that brings intelligence and automation directly into commercial insurance operations. Ratio Content and Rating Engine is available now and will be demonstrated at InsureTech Connect Vegas on September 29 through October 1, 2026 in Insurity’s booth #1549.
